The Little Prince

Kwasha! Theatre Company, with the support of the French Institute of South Africa and Mazars, presents an adaption of the magical storytelling masterpiece, The Little Prince. Originally written in French by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince is the world’s most translated book (outside of religious works). It has been translated into 300 languages, including English, Zulu, Afrikaans and Xhosa. Described as the story of a grown up meeting his inner child, it is a philosophical contemplation of loneliness, friendship, adulthood and authority. It tells the tale of a little boy who leaves the safety of his own tiny planet to travel the universe, learning the vagaries of adult behaviour through a series of extraordinary encounters. This production premiered at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown. It is an imaginative re-telling of the book, mixing storytelling and circus in multiple languages to create a unique South African production for adults and children alike.
