James and the Giant Peach will be performed by the talented cast of The University of Johannesburg. This production, based on a Roald Dahl work with wide appeal, will be staged three times at the Fair, at the Ramolao Makhene Theatre in Market Square.
Fresh off the stage in Grahamstown, where it was sold out, this delightful and imaginative interpretation is brought to life through elaborate soundscapes, colourful costumes, physical theatre, shadow puppetry and puppets. Children (and those accompanying them) will be enthralled by Miss Spider, Centipede, Earthworm, Old-Green-Grasshopper and everyone else in the Giant Peach, all of them led on a whirlwind adventure by the inimitable James of the title.
Performances will be on 8, 9 and 10 September, from 10:00 to 11:00, and bookings can be made once the full literary programme and marketing collateral toolkit have been released on the 1st August.
