03/05/2018 / Exhibitors South African Book Fair

The SABF is a unique opportunity for players within the book-publishing sector to showcase published works of interest to a broader demographic; and to assess the needs of new market segments. We are excited to have Oxford University Press, Real African Publishers, Via Afrika and the University of Cape Town (UCT) Press already committed to the event this year.

Maria de Witt, Brand and Events Manager for Via Afrika, had this to say about her company’s participation in the Fair: ‘It is the responsibility of every South African to do whatever is possible to motivate people to read more. This is the ideal event to promote this cause. We will focus on WritePublishRead and the new works published through this free digital self-publishing tool as well as … titles that are available to be read digitally as part of this initiative.’

‘Real African Publishers is an independent South African publisher and publishing consultancy specialising in pan-African cultural and political history, academia, biography and autobiography, and contract publishing,’ says Angela McClelland, Publishing Director at Real African Publishers. ‘Our range of high-end South African cultural history coffee-table books are steady sellers and have become collectors’ items locally and abroad. We have a growing collection of South African and pan-African political history books, biographies and autobiographies.’

According to publisher Sandy Shepherd, UCT Press is participating ‘to display the high quality of South African scholarly research and publishing to national, regional and international visitors.’ The Press will also be using the Fair to showcase its latest titles.
